If you have been RVing for a while, you have probably had that moment. You get back to your camper after a beach day or a long bike ride, reach for your keys, and realize they are not where you thought they were. Maybe you left them inside. Maybe they are buried in a bag. Maybe you just do not want to carry them everywhere. That is exactly why a keyless RV door lock can be one of the most practical upgrades for a travel trailer or fifth wheel. And if you want a solution that does not cost a fortune and does not require a contractor to install, the Kohree 4-in-1 RV Keyless Entry Door Lock is worth a serious look. This lock gives you four ways to get into your RV: fingerprint sensor, Bluetooth app, keypad passcode, and a physical key as a backup entry option. In this guide, we will walk through compatibility, installation, app setup, fingerprint registration, and common issues to check before you hit the road. This is a one-tool install designed for towable RV owners who are done carrying keys everywhere. Why Upgrade to a Keyless RV Door Lock? A keyless RV lock is not just a tech upgrade. It solves a very real camping problem. Keys are easy to lose, forget, or lock inside the trailer. With a 4-in-1 setup, you can use your fingerprint for everyday entry, a passcode for family access, the Bluetooth app for programming and management, and physical keys as a reliable backup entry option. Here is why so many towable RV owners are making the switch: No more carrying RV keys to the beach, on a bike ride, or to the campground bathhouse Everyone in the family can have their own entry method without sharing the same set of keys Temporary access codes let an RV technician or trusted family member in without giving out your main code Fingerprint access is fast and works even with hands full of groceries or camping gear The Bluetooth app makes setup and management much easier than pressing through long button sequences on the lock body Physical keys are always there as a backup entry option when you need them most Locking the deadbolt also locks the handle — a convenient practical feature that eliminates a second step What Comes in the Box? Before you start, lay everything out on a flat surface. You should have: Keyless RV door lock Mounting screws Strike plate and pinch plate hardware Four physical keys (backup entry option) Four AA Batteries (check the package — some versions include them, some do not) Installation manual with diagrams Keep the parts organized from the start. The install itself is simple, but losing a screw or misplacing the wiring connector early adds unnecessary hassle. Having everything laid out also makes it easier to avoid pinching the wires during installation. Before You Start: Check Compatibility This is the most important step before buying or starting the install. Compatibility is the single biggest concern for RV owners considering this type of lock. RV Type Compatibility This style of keyless RV door lock is designed for towable RVs, including many travel trailers and fifth wheels. It is not designed for most Class A or Class C motorhome doors, and it should not be used on glass RV doors. Motorized units may use DOT-required door hardware that is not compatible with this type of replacement lock. When in doubt, check the product documentation and contact Kohree support before purchasing. Door Thickness and Lock Cutout Size Check the thickness of your RV door and the size of the existing lock cutout. The door thickness should be 1.5 inches or less. The recommended cut out should be 3.75" and the width should be 2.75". The existing opening can be slightly larger than the lock cutout, but it should not be smaller. If your door opening is too small, do not force the lock into place — measure first and compare against the Kohree product manual before you begin. Glass Doors The Kohree 4-in-1 lock is not compatible with glass RV doors. If your trailer or camper has a glass door panel around the lock cutout, this is not the right fit. Measure and inspect before purchase. Screen Door Clearance Check the clearance between your interior lock knob and your RV screen door. Some screen doors have a flat sliding panel or limited space around the latch area. Before fully tightening the lock, close the screen door carefully and make sure nothing rubs or catches. Getting this check out of the way early saves you a partial reinstall later. ✅ Quick Compatibility Checklist ✔ Towable RV (travel trailer or fifth wheel) | ✔ Lock dimension: 3.75"H x 2.75" W x 1.5" T | ✔ Door thickness 1.5" or less | ✔ Door openings can be slightly large than the lock cutout, but not smaller | ✔ Not a glass RV door | ✔ Not a Class A or Class C motorhome | ✔ Screen door clears the interior knob Tools You Need This is genuinely a one-tool install for most compatible RV doors. Here is what you need: Phillips screwdriver Clean cloth Measuring tape (to confirm door thickness and cutout before starting) Fresh batteries, if not using the ones included in the package Mild cleaner if the door opening has built-up grime or old adhesive ⚠️ No Drill Needed — And Here's Why Avoid using a drill for this installation. A drill can overtighten the screws, distort the lock housing, or create friction that keeps the latch or deadbolt from moving smoothly. Hand-tighten only. Snug, not tight is the right target. Step-by-Step Kohree RV Door Lock Installation 1 Open the Door and Remove the Old Lock Start with the RV door open and keep it open throughout the installation. Remove the screws from the inside plate of your existing lock, then remove the two screws from the edge of the door. Once the screws are out, the old lock should slide free from the door opening. Keep the old hardware nearby until the new lock is tested and working — just in case. 2 Clean the Door Opening With the old lock removed, take a few minutes to clean the opening. Wipe away dirt, old residue, dust, or loose material from the edges. This is the easiest time to clean the area, and it helps the new lock sit flat against the door for a cleaner install and better alignment. 3 Separate the Front and Back Assemblies The Kohree lock may arrive pre-assembled. Remove the rear screws to separate the exterior keypad section from the interior plate. Set the screws aside somewhere they will not roll away — a small cup or tape works well. 4 Insert the Exterior Lock Assembly Slide the exterior lock assembly into the door opening from the outside. As you seat it, feed the wiring through the opening carefully. Do not pull hard on the wire and do not pinch the wires between the lock body and the door at any point. Make sure the deadbolt and latch both sit properly in the door edge slot. Keep the deadbolt in the unlocked position while installing. 5 Install the Edge Plate Screws - Loosely Install the two screws on the edge of the door, but do not tighten them fully yet. Keep them snug, not tight, so the lock holds in place while still allowing small adjustments before everything is locked down. 6 Connect the Interior Assembly Wiring Connect the wire from the exterior keypad section to the interior assembly. Make sure the connector is properly aligned before pressing it together. Once connected, gently tuck the wire into the open pocket of the door. Do not let the wire sit where it will be pinched when the interior plate is installed. A pinched wire can interfere with the lock motor or cut the electrical connection entirely. 7 Align the Interior Plate and Deadbolt Knob Before attaching the back plate, make sure the interior deadbolt knob is aligned with the deadbolt stem. The deadbolt should remain in the unlocked position while you do this. If the knob is not seated correctly, the lock may bind or fail to actuate when you try to use it. 8 Secure the Interior Plate Start all four interior screws by hand before tightening any of them. Once all screws are started, check that the lock body is straight and properly centered. Tighten the screws evenly — snug, not tight — and definitely do not overtighten. If the lock is compressed too hard against the door, the latch or deadbolt may not move freely. 9 Check the Strike Plate and Door Alignment Close the RV door gently and test the latch. If the door closes smoothly with your existing strike plate, you may not need to replace it. If the latch rubs, the deadbolt does not line up, or the door does not close securely, install or adjust the included strike plate. Shift it horizontally until the latch and deadbolt move freely when the door closes. Here is how to get everything set up: Step 1: Install Batteries Install batteries according to the polarity markings inside the battery compartment. If you camp frequently in very hot or very cold conditions, high-quality batteries are worth using. Check the battery level before long road trips — a dead battery on a keyless lock is avoidable with a little attention before you leave the campground. Step 2: Pair the Lock With the Kohree App Open the Kohree app and add the lock as a new device. Stay near the RV door during setup because the lock connects through Bluetooth — you need to be within Bluetooth range during pairing and when unlocking via the app. Bluetooth app control lets you lock and unlock the door and manage access settings while nearby, but keep in mind that standard Bluetooth is a proximity-based connection — it does not provide remote access from across the campground or from another state unless the specific model supports a separate Wi-Fi gateway. Step 3: Add Passcodes Open the family or user management section of the app and add a new passcode. The Kohree app supports up to 50 passcodes, so different family members can each have a number they actually remember. Save the code and test it at the door immediately. Do not assume it works — test before you travel. Step 4: Register a Fingerprint Choose "Add Fingerprint" in the app and follow the prompts while standing near the lock. Place your finger on the sensor each time the app asks. The app will guide you through several presses until the fingerprint is fully registered. Name the fingerprint after saving it so you can tell which user it belongs to at a glance. Step 5: Create Temporary Access Codes If someone needs short-term access to your RV (Up to 100 ft) — an RV technician, a family member watching your trailer, or a trusted contact at a storage facility — create a temporary code instead of sharing your main family passcode. The app can keep a log of entry activity showing who used the lock and when, which is a useful feature when multiple people have access. Test All Four Unlock Methods Before You Leave Before calling the installation done, test every way to get back inside your camper. Work through this checklist: ✔ Fingerprint unlock — from the exterior sensor ✔ Keypad passcode unlock — enter your code and confirm the door opens ✔ Bluetooth app — lock and unlock from the app while within Bluetooth range ✔ Physical key backup — confirm all four keys work in the lock cylinder ✔ Interior deadbolt knob — confirm it locks and unlocks smoothly ✔ Handle lock — confirm the handle locks when the deadbolt is engaged ✔ Test with the door both open and closed 💡 Pro Tip A few minutes of testing at the campsite is much better than discovering a problem at a state park at 10 PM. Make sure you have more than one reliable backup entry option working before you hit the road. Waterproof Use and Real-World Conditions The Kohree lock is designed for outdoor RV use, but like most fingerprint sensors, the reader may not perform as well when it is wet. If you have just washed the RV, been through a rainstorm, or come back from a beach day, dry the sensor before using your fingerprint. If it still does not read correctly, use the keypad, app, or physical key — that is exactly what the backup entry options are there for. Common Installation Mistakes to Avoid Mistake 1: Overtightening the Screws Snug, not tight. If the handle or deadbolt feels stiff after installation, overtightening is the most likely cause. Loosen the screws slightly, test the movement, and tighten again just until the lock does not shift or wobble. Mistake 2: Pinching the Wires Before installing the back plate, make sure the wires are tucked into the open pocket inside the door. Do not pinch the wires between the lock body and the door. A pinched wire can interfere with the lock motor or break the connection entirely. Mistake 3: Skipping the Compatibility Check Measure first. Installing the lock on an incompatible door — wrong thickness, too small a cutout, or a Class A or Class C door — can damage the door, the lock, or both. Check all the compatibility boxes before purchasing. Mistake 4: Not Adjusting the Strike Plate A perfectly installed lock can still feel wrong if the strike plate is misaligned. If the door does not close smoothly after installation, adjust the strike plate before blaming the lock itself. Mistake 5: Assuming Bluetooth Means Remote Access From Anywhere Bluetooth app control is designed for nearby use. You need to be within Bluetooth range of the lock when pairing, programming, or unlocking from your phone. Troubleshooting After Installation If something is off after installation, the table below covers the most common issues and how to fix them: Problem Likely Causes How to Fix It Deadbolt won't move smoothly Screws overtightened; deadbolt knob misaligned; wire trapped in mechanism; strike plate misaligned Loosen mounting screws slightly, check deadbolt alignment, make sure wires are tucked away, adjust strike plate if needed Door won't close after install Strike plate too far left or right; lock body not centered; edge screws tightened before alignment Loosen edge and interior screws, realign the lock body, adjust strike plate horizontally until door closes securely App can't find the lock Too far from RV; Bluetooth off; batteries not installed correctly; lock not in pairing mode Stand next to the RV door, enable Bluetooth, check battery installation, and follow pairing steps in the Kohree manual Fingerprint doesn't unlock Sensor wet or dirty; finger wet or dirty; fingerprint not fully registered; low battery Dry and clean the sensor, use keypad or app instead, then re-register the fingerprint through the app when dry Keypad works but handle is stiff Screws too tight; latch rubbing on strike plate; lock body slightly crooked Loosen screws, straighten the lock body, test the handle, then re-tighten Frequently Asked Questions Will the Kohree 4-in-1 RV door lock fit my camper? The Kohree 4-in-1 lock is designed for many towable RVs, including travel trailers and fifth wheels. Before buying, check your door thickness (1.5" or less), your lock cutout dimensions (Length with 3.75", width with 2.75" ), and whether your trailer has a glass door or a screen door clearance issue. If you have a Class A or Class C motorhome, this lock is likely not compatible. Can I install this on a Class A or Class C motorhome? In most cases, no. This type of RV keyless entry lock is designed for towable RVs and is not compatible with most Class A or Class C RV doors. Motorized units often use different door hardware. Does it work on glass RV doors? No. The Kohree 4-in-1 lock is not designed for glass RV doors. Is this keyless RV door lock for right-hand opening? No. Our lock is designed for doors with right-side hinges. This means the lock is installed on the left side, and the door swings open from the left. What tools do I need to install it? For most compatible RV doors, you only need a screwdriver. Avoid using a drill — it can overtighten the screws and cause the lock to bind or operate poorly. Do I have to replace the strike plate? Not always. If your existing strike plate lines up and the door closes smoothly, you may not need to replace it. If the latch or deadbolt rubs or the door does not close securely, use the included strike plate and adjust it horizontally until everything aligns. How many ways can I unlock the door? You have four options: fingerprint, Bluetooth app, keypad passcode, and physical key. Having multiple backup entry options means a wet sensor or a dead phone does not leave you standing outside the camper. Can I unlock the RV from my phone? Yes, when you are within Bluetooth range (Up to 100 ft). The app connects to the lock via Bluetooth, so you need to be near the RV door to use it for locking and unlocking. Can I create different codes for different family members? Yes. The app supports up to 50 passcodes, so family members can each have a unique code they actually remember. Can I create a temporary code for an RV technician or guest? Yes. The Kohree app lets you create temporary access codes for short-term use, so you can give access to a technician or trusted person without sharing your primary passcode. Does the app show who opened the RV? According to the setup guide, the app can keep a log of entry activity, including who used the lock and when. What if the fingerprint reader gets wet? Dry the sensor and try again. If it still does not read correctly, use the keypad, app, or physical key — that is exactly what the backup entry options are there for. What batteries should I use? Please use 4 × AA batteries from a trusted, safety-certified brand. Based on how often you use the lock, plan to check and replace the batteries every 6 to 12 months. Can I program the lock without the app? Yes. You can program the lock directly by pressing the settings button on the back and following the steps in the manual. The app is the faster setup method, but manual programming is available as a backup option. Ready to Stop Carrying Keys to the Campground?
